Gym marketing FAQ
Gym marketing FAQ: straight answers.
Everything gym owners ask us before they claim the free month: what it costs, whether there's a contract, who qualifies, how fast new members come in and who you'll actually work with. Twenty questions in five topics, answered in plain words. Search them, or jump to a topic.
The offer The free month, explained.
What the free gym marketing trial costs, why it exists and what happens when the 30 days are up.
Is there a contract, a deposit or anything to pay upfront?
No. There's no contract, no deposit and nothing to pay upfront. Our fee in the free month is $0. What you do pay is your own ad spend, which goes from your account straight to the platform, plus minimal texting (SMS) costs for the follow-up. We never touch your ad spend and never mark it up. After the first month it's month to month, so you stay because it works, not because a contract says so. The details are on our free gym marketing trial page.
How are you able to offer the first month free?
Because we're confident in the system. We run the same proven process for every gym, with ads, lead follow-up and a page built to book intros all working together, and we'd rather prove it with real members than with a sales pitch. If it works, you stay month to month. If it doesn't, you walk away owing us nothing.
What does the free month actually cost me?
Your own ad spend, plus minimal texting (SMS) costs for the lead follow-up. You pay Meta directly from your own ad account, and the money never passes through our books. GymPropel charges no management fee, setup fee or deposit in month one. The right spend depends on your market and how many intros your team can run each week. The gym marketing budget calculator gives you a starting point.
What happens after the first month?
We review the numbers together: leads, booked intros, shows and new members. Happy? You continue month to month, still with no contract, and cancel whenever you like by text, email or phone, whichever is easiest. Not happy? You walk away and owe nothing. From month two there's a monthly management fee that depends on what we run for your gym, and Vincent gives you straight figures for it on the call.
How it works From first call to live.
The qualification call, the kickoff and what we need from you and your team to get campaigns running.
What happens on the qualification call?
It's a free 30-minute call with Vincent on Google Meet, and no card is needed. He looks at your members, your current ad spend and where your leads leak between the first enquiry and a signed membership. If we can't help your gym, you'll hear that on the call. If we can, you'll leave knowing what month one would look like. Book a free gym marketing call when you're ready.
How fast do campaigns go live?
Usually within days of the kickoff call, not weeks. We start with your numbers, build the campaigns and the follow-up together, and test every message on a real phone before anything goes live. Most gyms see their first new member in about five days. The full sequence, from the first call to month six, is laid out in our gym marketing process.
When does the free month start?
On the day we begin work on your account, not the day you book the call. That keeps your 30 days for what matters: live campaigns, follow-up that reaches every lead within minutes, and weekly tuning, with a review of the numbers at the end. GymPropel bills nothing during those 30 days. You cover only your own ad spend, paid straight to the platform, and minimal texting (SMS) costs.
What do you need from me and my team?
Partner access to your ad account (it stays yours), a short kickoff call, a phone to film a short shot list for your ads, and someone who answers when a lead replies. The automation handles the first text, the reminders and the chasing, but a person at your gym still has to ask for the sale. We give them the scripts; our gym front desk sales script shows the approach.
Gym marketing services What we actually run.
Ads, follow-up, websites and the conversion process, and how they fit together as one system.
What gym marketing services do you offer?
We run them as one system: Facebook and Instagram ads at the core, automated lead follow-up, a fast website or landing page, a conversion process that gets booked intros to show up and sign, and a strategist who knows your gym. Where local search demand makes sense, we add Google ads. We also set up marketing automation, including missed-call text-back and review requests, and local SEO. You can see every piece on our gym marketing services page.
Should my gym run Facebook ads or Google ads?
For most gyms, Facebook and Instagram ads come first, and they're the core of what we run. Gym Facebook ads put your offer in front of people within driving distance who weren't looking for a gym today. Google ads catch the people already searching for a gym near them: fewer leads, but higher intent, and they compound with a strong Google Business Profile. We add them for gyms where local search demand makes them worth it, and on the call we'll tell you whether yours is one.
What is lead follow-up, and why does it matter so much?
It's the system that answers every enquiry within minutes by text, email and voicemail, then keeps going for weeks until the lead replies or books. Most gyms don't have a lead problem, they have a follow-up problem: a form comes in at night and nobody calls until the next day. That's where most gyms lose the sale. Read more about gym lead follow-up.
Do you build gym websites?
Yes. We build fast, mobile-first gym websites and landing pages with one job: turn a visitor into a booked intro. The forms and booking calendar are wired straight into your follow-up, so every enquiry gets a reply in minutes. We write the copy too, like a person answering real questions rather than a brochure. Gym marketing results Results, and who it fits.
How fast new members come in, what other gyms have seen, and whether your gym qualifies.
How soon will my gym see new members?
Campaigns and follow-up usually go live within days. Most gyms see their first new member in about five days, and typically 5–15 new members a month once everything is running. Those are typical ranges, not guarantees: your market, your offer, the season and how fast your team replies all move the number, and the first few weeks are often noisy before things settle.
What results have other gyms seen?
CrossFit Prior Lake in Minnesota grew from 81 to 132 members, with 11 sign-ups in the first week. MUV The Gym booked $4.2K in new memberships in its first 40 days. ION Strength & Conditioning signed 5 new memberships and booked 20 appointments in 15 days. The owners tell it in their own words in our gym marketing case studies.
Which gyms qualify to work with GymPropel?
You run a gym with an existing member base, you can fund your own ad spend, and nobody in your market already works with us. It also helps to have someone who can call a new lead back the same day. If you're a very small gym in a tiny town, paid ads might not be your bottleneck yet, and we'll tell you that on the call.
Do you work with my type of gym?
We work with gyms across North America, and the playbook changes with how your gym sells: HIIT studios, group fitness studios, CrossFit affiliates, 24/7 gyms and personal training studios. A class schedule, a free intro and a one-to-one consult each need different ads and different follow-up. Find yours under fitness studio marketing by gym type.
Working with GymPropel Who's on the other end.
Who you deal with, how we're different from other agencies, and what stays yours.
Who will I actually work with?
Vincent Yu, the founder. He's the person you talk to on the first call, the person who knows your gym, your numbers and your local market, and the person who answers for the new members. There's no account-manager relay and no ticket queue. You can reach him at vincent@gympropel.com, and there's more about him on the about GymPropel page.
How is GymPropel different from other gym marketing agencies?
Most agencies hand you a lead count and disappear. We run your ads, your follow-up and your website together as one system, and we report on members who actually sign and stay, including retention at month three and six. You deal with the founder directly, and we work with one gym per market. Weighing it up? Read hire a gym marketing agency or do it yourself.
Will you work with my competitors?
No. We work with one gym per market, so we never work for the gym down the road. That means the ads we run for you never bid against our own work for the same people, and our advice never pulls in two directions. If a gym in your area already works with us, we'll tell you on the call, before you spend any time on it.
Who owns my ad account and data?
You do. We work inside your Meta Business Manager with partner access, and you pay Meta from your own card. If we part ways, the ad account, the pixel, the audiences and the ad history stay with you. Your brand, your member lists and your lead data stay yours too. It's one more reason there's no contract: nothing is held hostage.
